Share R Streets

The Streets as Shared Spaces project – currently underway in Crookwell, Taralga and Laggan.
Council has been awarded grants for the NSW Government Streets and Shared Spaces program. We have a variety of exciting things happening in Crookwell, Laggan and Taralga.
The objectives of this programme are to support councils and communities during COVID-19 and to test and pilot new and innovative ideas for streets as safe, shared public spaces. In Crookwell, we are aiming to:
- Beautify the street
- Support physical activity
- Support community connectedness and social cohesion
- Activate the main street
- Provide quality amenity space
- Improve road safety
- Improve mental health and community resilience
- Enhance urban design
- Test and build the case for more permanent changes
- Support jobs and boost business confidence
These are temporary, quick response measures and strategic pilots to test for longer term change. Further information can be found at this link: https://www.dpie.nsw.gov.au/premiers-priorities/great-public-spaces/streets/grants-for-councils
